New font collections coming on the end of year!
Dear users, We plan to make new sets of common music symbols for Finale / or another notation software like Sibelius. The new sets will be grouped in to: 1. Clefs 2. Accidentals 3. Time Signatures 4. Expression symbols 5. Note-heads We think that making a complete palette is a nice idea but – limited. Now when Finale introduced UTF support, the new possibilities arise. The new sets will include hundreds of symbols which will give you a complete control of your final output.

Ottavina has got the first update! We have noticed that there were missing the brackets when the octava continues in the new system. Now it is fixed. The file name is Ottavina2.otf, but the OS will recognise it as Ottavina (as before…) You have to remove the old font from your system prior to installing of the new variant. The same download procedure (go to the post).

Here is the instruction for use in Sibelius 7. Maestro replacements work well with Sibelius 7 (Vienna, Oslo, Paris, Stockholms). Firenza needs more tweaking. Other fonts are addendums, work well but are not a direct replacement (because they are extras and don’t include all symbols). Here is the instruction in OS X for the change from Opus to Oslo, but works in Windows as well with other fonts. Install font on your machine. Start your score. Add substitutions: Go to Preferences, Music Fonts, and click on Choose… at Music font...

“I have composed a piece which has this symbol, but I can’t find it in Maestro. I have looked in Opus, and Engraver, and here and there, but I can’t find it. I downloaded tons of free fonts, but never found. So, I have decided to compromise and use another symbol from Maestro anyway…” Did it ever happen to you? If yes – than it is time for participating in the new-font project! All engravers and composers will be able to submit a graphic file which will be included, adopted and adjusted in a new font palette which...

Ottavina – sounds like an instrument? No, it is a free font. Some days ago a customer contacted us saying that there are missing some ottava and quintdecima symbols. That’s correct. We made completely new symbols, which can replace the old octave and two octave symbols. On the beginning we wanted to create new symbols for each font (Maestro, Petrucci, Vienna, Opus…) but it would be just more job and more complex. Here is only one font, not based on any previous font. The symbols are found in the standard...

We just want to encourage all users to use the otf version of fonts within Finale. OTF stands for OpenType Font, which was based in part on the TrueType standard. TTF stands for TrueType Font, a relatively older font. Read more: Difference Between TTF and OTF | Difference Between | TTF vs OTF

We are thinking to make all our available fonts compatible with Sibelius 7. The fonts ARE possible to use with Sibelius 7 in the same way as the Maestro font is.
